Join our Herd

To receive 100% all-natural, raw milk, you must “join our herd.” This is our way of saying you get to become a partial owner of our beautiful Jersey herd! As a partial owner, you are entitled to the raw milk that our herd produces. In order to keep things legal, you MUST fill-out and sign our herd share agreement (which includes our Bovine Agistment Agreement and Bovine Bill of Sale). Please see below for further detail on our herd share agreement.

Each of our cute Jersey cows produces approximately 20 gallons of milk each week! That’s a lot of milk! Most people cannot go through 20 gallons of milk each week… so we have divided up ownership of each cow into 20 sections which we like to call a “herd share.” Therefore, each “herd share” you purchase, you are able to receive up to 1 gallon of raw milk per week.

The “herd share” buy-in is a one time fee that allows you to become a partial owner of our herd! Each week we feed, house, and care for each cow along with milking and bottling the milk. This all takes time and energy. In order to allow us to produce the best raw milk we have a weekly “boarding fee” which covers the costs of feeding, milking, bottling, and caring for your portion of our herd!

Our one-time buy-in fee is $50 to become a shareholder in our herd. Our boarding fee is $9* weekly or $36* monthly.

*We are currently in the process of becoming a certified organic herd. Once our herd is officially certified, our boarding fee will increase to $10 (billed weekly) or $40 (billed monthly) to cover the costs of certification and additional labor involved in having a certified organic herd. Each member will be notified prior to any increase in price or changes to our herd.

one share = one gallon of raw milk each week

In order to remain a legal and legitimate business, we are unable to directly sell our raw milk to consumers. Thus, we have created a way to sell you a part of our herd which will entitle you to a portion of the raw-milk our herd produces.

Below, you will find our Herd Share Agreement which includes three components: Bovine Agistment Agreement, Exhibit A, and Bovine Bill of Sale.

**Prior to picking-up your raw milk, you MUST complete ONE Herd Share Agreement for EACH share you purchase**

The Herd Share Agreement is located in the link below

**NEW for our returning members - we are now using Google Forms to complete and sign all Herd Share Agreements. Your prior agreements (completed through SignNow) are still valid. However, all shares purchased on or after 1/11/25 will need to complete their corresponding agreement via the Google Forms link below.

Herd Share Agreement

  • Bovine: relating to cattle

  • Agister: is a person who takes care of animals for a fee by providing them with land to graze on. Agisters are responsible for the animals' well-being, including making sure they have enough food and water.

  • Agistment Agreement: the agreement in which Agister houses/cares for livestock and feed at a specified rate -> once purchased, you will be the new “owner” of part of the herd. Thus, our agistment agreement indicates that Providence Homestead (seller/agister) will keep the herd feed, house, and care for the animals for specific fee (boarding fee) in which you will pay to Providence Homestead weekly.

  • Bill of Sale: a legal document that records the transfer of ownership of property from a seller to a buyer. It's a formal written agreement that protects both parties and serves as proof of purchase

  • Exhibit A: “Farm Operating Standards and Herd Health Protocols” this section states the standard at which Providence Homestead will care for our herd.
